Taytay is the stop on the El Nido highway that most itineraries drive straight past. It was the capital of the whole province long before Puerto Princesa was, and its Spanish stone fort still stands on the shore in the middle of town. Because it sits on the national highway rather than off it, this transfer is the same northbound drive you would already be taking — ending in Taytay instead of continuing to Bacuit Bay. It is also the road leg for anyone booked on an island resort out in Taytay Bay, where the drive has to line up with a boat rather than simply arrive.

Yes. Taytay sits on the national highway between Puerto Princesa and El Nido, so a northbound road transfer runs through it either way. In two legs. The road leg runs north from Puerto Princesa to the mainland, and the resort itself — Apulit Island and the others out in Taytay Bay — is reached by boat rather than by road. That is yours to decide, but the reason people stop is Fuerza de Santa Isabel — the stone fort on the shore in the town centre, begun in 1667 under the Augustinian Recollect fathers, completed in 1738 and named in honour of Queen Isabella II of Spain. Its small chapel and cannons are still intact and the municipal government looks after it. Taytay was also the provincial capital from 1818, long before Puerto Princesa.
The town has its own airfield, Cesar Lim Rodriguez Airport (IATA: RZP) in Barangay Sandoval, owned by the Province of Palawan. Most travellers still arrive by road from Puerto Princesa (PPS) and we quote that transfer in either direction, but we also cover RZP pickups and drop-offs if you are flying part of the itinerary.
