Underground River permits: plan the entry before the transfer

The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is not a turn-up-at-the-gate attraction. Visitor entry is controlled, so the permit, road transfer to Sabang and onward boat all need to be planned as one connected day.

1

Start with your date

Park entry is controlled and visitor permits are arranged in advance. Share your preferred date before treating flights, hotels and transfers as a finished day plan.

2

Confirm the permit

A transfer booking is not the same as park admission. We confirm what permit availability looks like for your date before you commit to the connected travel.

3

Match the road pickup

Tell us your Puerto Princesa hotel or flight details and your group size. We then quote the private vehicle for the mainland road leg to Sabang.

4

Allow for the boat hand-off

The road ends at Sabang. The park visit continues from the wharf by local boat to the cave entrance, so both parts need to line up.

What the permit does — and does not — cover

Park entry

The permit controls admission to the protected national park. Availability belongs to a particular visit date; it is not replaced by booking a van, a hotel in Sabang or a flight to Puerto Princesa.

Puerto Princesa to Sabang

This is the mainland road part. A private car or van can collect from your hotel or Puerto Princesa International Airport and connect you with the Sabang departure point.

Sabang wharf to the park

The cave entrance is reached from Sabang by a local boat leg. Sea conditions and park operations can affect the day, which is why we confirm the actual arrangement instead of publishing a generic schedule.

After the visit

You do not always need to return to Puerto Princesa. If Sabang is part of a longer mainland itinerary, ask us about continuing north toward Port Barton, San Vicente or El Nido.

Already know your travel date?

Tell us where you are staying, how many people are travelling and whether the Underground River is a return day from Puerto Princesa or one stop in a longer Palawan route. We will quote the correct vehicle and identify the permit and boat hand-offs that still need confirming.

Tell us your Palawan trip. We will price it properly.

Free, no obligation, and no payment to ask. If a leg does not make sense on your dates, we will say so rather than sell it to you.
