Balabac is the far southern end of Palawan, and getting there is the whole planning problem. There is no road to it and no drive-on connection: you travel the length of the mainland by road to the southern port, then cross by sea. - Balabac Island is listed as an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International, and the island group is one of the places the endemic Philippine mouse-deer — locally the pilandok — is found.
