A barangay of San Vicente municipality, on the west coast north of Puerto Princesa
Port Barton is the stop most itineraries skip past on the way to El Nido — a fishing village on Pagdanan Bay that has stayed smaller and slower than its famous neighbour. It works well either as its own base or as a break in a longer Puerto Princesa–El Nido run.
What you should know before you book
- Port Barton is a barangay of the municipality of San Vicente, on Palawan’s west coast north of Puerto Princesa. It is not its own municipality.
- The village sits on Pagdanan Bay, with a scatter of small islands and coral reefs offshore that are visited on boat day trips out of the village.
- It became an independent barangay in 1961 and was placed under the newly formed municipality of San Vicente when San Vicente was established in 1970.
- Overland access from Puerto Princesa follows the same north road that continues on towards El Nido, so a stop here fits into a Puerto Princesa–El Nido routing rather than needing a separate side trip.
- San Vicente Airport, elsewhere in the municipality, has scheduled domestic flights, giving the area a second way in besides the road from Puerto Princesa. San Vicente is also TIEZA’s first nationally declared Tourism Enterprise Zone, which is why the municipality also includes the long beach at Alimanguan known locally as Long Beach.
