El Nido Sabang / Underground River
Both ends of this trip already have a page here, and neither of them tells you how to join them up. El Nido sits at the northern tip of mainland Palawan; the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River is reached through the seaside village of Sabang, a long way back down the mainland towards Puerto Princesa. It is a full southbound run on the same national highway corridor that links El Nido and the city, and it has to land at Sabang in time for a park slot you cannot rebook on the day — which is why the vehicle is worth having fixed, priced and in writing before you leave El Nido.
We do not run this boat, so we will not pretend we can refund someone else’s sailing — but we will not leave you paying for a vehicle that has nowhere to be either. If the crossing is suspended or your boat does not go, the transfer we quoted is re-timed or rebooked for when it does.
Arriving or leaving by boat? Tell us in the notes which crossing you are booked on and the vehicle is timed to meet it rather than to a clock, with the pickup point and time named on the written confirmation we send before you travel. We do not track a sailing the way we track a flight, so if the boat runs late or you are moved to another one, message us while it is happening and we re-time the driver rather than leaving you to sort it out at the pier.
An early-hours or late-night pickup is routine here — send the flight, crossing or permit you are working to and we time the vehicle back from it rather than from a clock time you guessed.
The park permit is admission to a protected national park and is not ours to issue, sell or hold — entry runs on a daily visitor cap and permits are handled through Puerto Princesa, so the park side is the park’s and the road leg is what we quote. What we can do is help you confirm what availability looks like for your date before you commit the rest of the trip to it, then time the vehicle around the entry you hold. If you already have one, send the entry time and we work the pickup back from it; if you have not started, say so rather than leaving it blank. Requesting a quote does not reserve park entry.
Our quote is fixed and all-in for the transport we arrange. Anything collected by someone else — a park permit, a local environmental fee, a ferry or airline ticket — is identified separately on the quote and paid locally, so you know which is which before you travel rather than at a wharf.
A tip is not expected and nothing is owed at the end of the trip — the driver is paid by us for a trip that runs, so the quoted price is genuinely the whole of our side of it, with nothing to settle at the drop-off and no service charge anywhere. If you want to mark a driver who looked after you on a long day, that is yours to decide and he is free to accept it, but it is a gesture rather than a charge and we publish no suggested amount.
A hotel or resort pickup is arranged in advance like an airport one: the written confirmation sent before you travel names the pickup point and time and carries the driver and vehicle details, so nothing has to be arranged at a front desk on the morning. The vehicle is yours rather than a shared shuttle, so it runs at your time.
If you are the one running late — a slow checkout, a breakfast that ran on — message us while it is happening rather than afterwards, using the reply path on the written confirmation sent before you travel: on the morning it is something we can relay to the driver and re-time around where the day allows, and afterwards it is not. We publish no waiting window and nothing is settled in cash at the kerb, but we will not pretend a delay is free of consequence either: a leg somebody else holds — a permit slot, a ferry, a flight — keeps its own clock, and a long hold can re-price the day, which we would tell you rather than spring on you.
Stopping somewhere on the way is normal here, not a separate booking: the vehicle and driver stay with you through the stop and your luggage stays aboard, so list the stops in order on the quote form and we plan the day around them rather than leaving it to the roadside.
This is a long run on the road, and stopping on the way is a normal part of one: the vehicle is yours for the leg rather than a shared van on its own turnaround, so the driver can pull over where it is safe for a toilet, for food or just to get out of the seat, with your bags staying aboard. If anyone travelling needs to stop more often, needs to eat at a set time, or travels badly on winding roads, say so in the notes on the quote form and we plan the leg around it.
A private transfer has no second van behind it, so it is fair to ask what happens if this one fails on the road: it stays ours to sort out rather than becoming yours — the driver reports it to us rather than leaving you to work it out, nothing is settled at the roadside, and where part of the trip did not happen the rebook-or-refund position on our terms applies for our reason exactly as it does for the weather.
Need it both ways? Tick the return trip on the form and give the return date, and the two legs are quoted together and booked as one arrangement. A same-day wait-and-return is one held day; a return on a later date is its own leg on that date — the vehicle is not held idle in between — and each leg is priced on its own date, so a return weeks later can come back at a different figure, which we will tell you rather than matching them silently.
We publish route guidance, not generic fares or timings. Your quote is based on the actual date, pickup, accommodation, passenger count, luggage and vehicle needed.
Same corridor, travelled the other way. The planning notes above apply in either direction — the pickup and drop-off points simply swap over, so Sabang / Underground River to El Nido is quoted on exactly the same basis as El Nido to Sabang (Underground River).
Travelling both ways? Ask for the return at the same time and both legs are planned as one itinerary rather than two unrelated bookings.
Yes, and we quote it — but go in knowing it is a full southbound run down the mainland and back, not a short hop. Most travellers get more out of the day by taking it one way: south to Sabang for the park, then on to Puerto Princesa, instead of driving the same road twice.
Yes. Entry to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park runs on a daily visitor cap, so the permit is the least flexible part of the day. Confirm it first and the vehicle is timed around what you already hold.
No. The road transfer ends at Sabang. From Sabang wharf the last leg to the beach at the cave entrance is by boat, which is arranged separately and then aligned with your vehicle — the same split as on the Puerto Princesa to Sabang transfer.
Yes, and it is usually the better routing. The run can end at a Puerto Princesa hotel or at Puerto Princesa International Airport (PPS), quoted as one itinerary rather than two transfers. If you are flying out the same day, tell us the flight and we will say plainly whether the timing works.
Yes. It is the same corridor travelled the other way, and we quote it the same way. Tell us your pickup in Sabang / Underground River and where you need to be in El Nido, and it is priced on the same fixed, all-in basis.
