Almost everything sold in El Nido leaves from the water. Nacpan is the exception: it sits on the mainland north of the town proper, so you reach it on El Nido’s own road network instead of boarding a lettered island-hopping tour. That makes it the one El Nido day you can shape yourself — leave when you want, stay for the sunset, come back when you are ready — and it is also the reason the transport is worth arranging properly. A tricycle is built for short hops around the town proper; this is a run out to a rural barangay and back, usually with a long wait in the middle.
Plan the route correctly
- Both ends are on mainland Palawan within the municipality of El Nido, so this is a road transfer — Nacpan is not a stop on the lettered Bacuit Bay boat tours and cannot be reached on one.
- El Nido is a municipality of eighteen barangays, and only four of them make up the Poblacion town proper — Maligaya (Zone I), Buena Suerte (Zone II), Masagana (Zone III) and Corong-corong (Zone IV) — so “El Nido” on a booking form does not say which one you are staying in.
- El Nido’s roads run as radial and circumferential routes around the town proper and its rural barangays, so the trip out to Nacpan is local road rather than the national highway that carries the Puerto Princesa corridor.
- Calitang meets Nacpan at the southern end of the same bay — the pair are known locally as the Twin Beaches — so say which end you want to be dropped at if you have a particular stretch in mind.
- This is normally a there-and-back day: the same vehicle waits and returns you, rather than leaving you to find transport off a rural beach late in the afternoon.
- Lio Airport (ENI) and Nacpan both lie north of the town proper, so an arrival can run straight to the beach and on to your accommodation afterwards rather than doubling back through town.
- Road and beach conditions change with the weather, so the vehicle and the pickup time are confirmed for your actual travel date rather than assumed.
