Almost everyone who flies to Coron lands at Francisco B. Reyes Airport, still widely signposted as Busuanga Airport, and then has to get across Busuanga Island to the town. This leg is a drive, not a boat — the thing that confuses people is that Coron Island, the one with the lakes, is somewhere else entirely. Booking it privately means a driver waiting for your actual flight instead of negotiating a shared van at the terminal door.
Plan the route correctly
- Francisco B. Reyes Airport and Coron town are both on Busuanga Island, so the airport transfer is an overland drive rather than a boat crossing.
- “Coron” names three different places: Coron town on Busuanga Island, Coron Island across the bay reached only by boat, and Coron municipality covering both. Hotels are almost always in the town.
- The airport is listed under both names — Francisco B. Reyes and Busuanga — but only one code, USU, so quoting the code with your flight details removes the ambiguity.
- The same airport also serves Busuanga municipality on the western half of the island, so a resort there is a different drop-off from a Coron town hotel: name the property rather than just the island.
- There is no road from Busuanga Island to mainland Palawan. If Puerto Princesa or El Nido is also on your itinerary, that connection is a separate flight or sea crossing with its own transfer at each end.
